LONGING

Among other definers Longing is most evidently a state of mind seated in the present, aimed at the past and at the future; a point in which we may pivot, looking back over our shoulder, or forward to the horizon.

Within this state a future is imagined and a past re-imagined, and the linkage is the person and their wanting. These longed for moments in turn define the present moment by what is absent, what is not currently possessed, what has already past and cannot be regained, and what is to be built but not yet realized.

This state of longing, of wanting and not having, is entertained everyday within our everyday thoughts and actions. At what part of the timeline (past, present, future) do we hesitate or fluctuate?

Jumping off point--Past: a reflection, a manipulation. Present: the the awareness of lack and wanting. Future: unadulterated manipulation and dreaming.
